A Short Biography....
(yeah, right!)
You see these two guys pictured
here? I owe these two guys a debt of gratitude. If it hadn't been for the
collective genius of these two bizarre, brilliant men, I wouldn't be doing
what I do today. I often wonder if these
two geniuses actually knew the profound influences that they had on thousands
of budding neophyte hot rodders and motorcyclists, like myself, or even if
they took the time to think about it.
What red-blooded american kid wouldn't be fascinated with the visceral image of a bloodshot eyeball with the capability of flight? Or a guy that made pistols from junk, liked to blow things up, and could lay down cool pinstripes - with the brush in his TEETH!?
How could one not see the demonic look in Ed Roth's eyes, and not get the message behind those orbs, " This is gonna be REALLY good! " . The cars, the monster t-shirt art, the goatee, the wackiness, I sucked it all in, like a little sponge. Those teachers in school, who confiscated my Hot Rod magazines, were wrong - you guys did amount to something!
I thank you both, from the bottom of my heart.
I've been immersed in the motorcycle and hot rod scene for 45 years, and have ridden motorcycles for 42 of those. I originally earned my living as a carpenter, until 1980, when I spent more time in courtrooms trying to retrieve my justly-earned money from deadbeat contractors, than I did on the job site working.
That year, I decided to turn what I did for a hobby into what I did for a living. I went back to school, and earned my full credentials and associate degrees in auto body, and automotive refinishing. For the next 20 years, I honed my skills in light and heavy duty frame collision repair, sheetmetal and structural repair, fiberglass repair (including SMC), metal fabrication, and vehicle paint & refinishing. During this time I also earned my full ICAR certification in the auto body and welding segments. While I was employed as a Body & Fabrication Mechanic for the local bus transit company, I earned their certificates in welding, electrical, and drivetrain.
The next 2 years had me riding a desk, performing the duties of inside sales and tech support for a national distributor of aftermarket Harley-Davidson parts and accessories, with a short stint working for a national manufacturer of aftermarket Harley components after that. During that time, I had the opportunity to meet most of the people who make up the aftermarket Harley industry, most of whom have become not only business associates, but very, very good friends.
Realizing I was spending more time shuffling papers, and less time actually doing what I loved the most -building, and fabricating - I decided to combine my metal skills, my knowledge of the aftermarket, and the ability to meet the needs of my customers into one, concise, venture. Here we are today, Shamrock Fabrication.
Happily, we can say we're into our TENTH year. It hasn't been easy - and the last couple years, to put it mildly - SUCKED! But, despite everything, we've hung in there, and we're still here cutting things up, when others threw in the towel! We've always been about the the long haul. A big "Thank You" goes out to all our friends, customers, and suppliers. Without your continued patronage and faith in our work and products, we wouldn't be here today!
